House P8-2
For the exhibition “The International Story of Slovenian Architecture” as part of this year’s Architect’s Day, the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning selected a house in Kamnik designed by our architectural office.
The house is situated in a rural setting and, despite its modern design, subtly integrates into its surroundings. It is built using traditional construction methods, with brick and reinforced concrete, while the roof structure is wooden. The roof features light grey concrete shingles, which are characteristic of village environments. The lower part of the house is finished with a white plaster layer. At the same time, the upper facade consists of vertical larch slats of varying widths, playfully interacting with a steel balcony adorned with carved carnation motifs. The investor thus remains the only householder in the village with flowers on the balcony year-round. The external arrangement includes two retaining walls made of bush-hammered concrete. Concrete is also used for the paved surfaces around the house, while the majority of the plot is covered in greenery. The chosen materials are sustainable, reflecting the surrounding farms’ spirit and dismantling old rural houses. Clean lines and pleasant materials define the interior.
