Barn P
High in the mountains, on a small alpine farm, we first demolished an old, deteriorated barn. The new barn was designed with similar dimensions, as the steep terrain and partial embedding into the slope limited its size. The lower level houses cattle and calves and separate smaller spaces for goats, sheep, and chickens. The upper level features a two-story hayloft, while the highest part includes a section for machinery storage. A separate manure storage facility with an underground liquid manure collector was also integrated into the design. The barn’s architecture aligns with the local style, featuring plastered lower walls and wooden cladding on the upper level, topped with a grey concrete tile roof.
